Lost little Fledgling(open)

Ratchet watched the lighting bolt smash into the wall and fizzle out after a few machines took the brunt of the damage, he then sighed as that kid was going to get them busted for sure. It was then that Talone knocked the child out with some sort of magic and started to ask about a back door and he looked at her for a few moments before saying "Castle Oblivion is a s-singular structure that is adrift in the darkness.......there is no other place in this realm but a void filled with d-darkness........The only way out is with a portal...." Ratchet rubbed his head for a while before finally saying "I don't know w-what to do....."

Talone was really getting twitchy now as her claws scratched at the ground. She didn't want to do anything too drastic that would put Ratchet in harm's way but her options were limited.
"We need a portal then. I don't care where it takes us just anywhere but this place. If he asks what happened tell him I was ready to go home or leave. Hopefully he won't think too much of it and I can hide Lyle."
Her eyes looked to be begging for this as Lyle stirred some in his half dream like state. He muttered a few words but they were hard to understand. Talone looked ready to just run out the castle and try to fly as far as she can to get out of here.

Ratchet saw how antzy Talone was and knew that if he didn't get them out now she was going to do something crazy and get herself killed by Kuja or Ryoko. He quickly ran to one of his machines and started to power it up as it whirled to life, Ratchet knew they didn't have much time and he figured they would only have enough time to get two people through anyway before Kuja reached them.

Ratchet started to focus his darkness powers into the machine to form a Dark Corridor but he wasn't going to leave with them.......and he knew he would get punished for this very badly. He smiled though and said "Just be ready to get into the portal when I say so and don't look back."

Talone showed concern but agreed to Ratchet's plans. She knew he was taking a great risk going against Master Kuja and letting them leave but she had blood family to protect. As the portal was nearly finished forming Talone leaned down to Ratchet and kissed him atop the head before whispering her farewells.
"Thank you, and please be careful for me."
She then took off in a sprint at the portal and vanished into it. She didn't realize the necklace of dog tags with her and Lyle's names carved into them along with their label the Novans gave them broke off and was left on the lab floor. She was too busy fleeing to even realize this.

Ratchet gave her a brave smile as he watched her disappear with Lyle and just before the portal closed.....if Talone looked back she would see Ratchet get side swiped by a holy attack sending the Heartless flying out of sight and right there in front of the portal Koutetsu landed and let out a roar at them before stomping toward where Ratchet had went.

But the portal shut down and the two couldn't turn back to help the little heartless as Kuja walked into the lab and saw that the two have gotten away thanks to Ratchet. His anger wasn't that great as he knew he had something that Talone would never give up, but as he passed the portal generator he saw the dog tags and picked them up. As he did so he said with a slightly bored tone "Ratchet you disappoint me.......you know the punishment for betrayal......" The scene fades out as screaming could be heard along with the sound of spinning blades.
