We need to talk...
Hey everyone. I recieved a call tonight from a senior pastor at a local church. He offered me the job of being the church's youth pastor. I gladly accepted.
The thing is...this job is a huge deal...seriously. I'm not sure if I will remain on the site...I want to, I love each and every one of you members. If I can, I'll stay, just give me some time when I start this job in a week to figure it all out.
Let's have fun until then k? okay! lol

*HUG*
I wish you the best of luck with everything.
Keep us informed, okay? I hope you're able to stay, but I understand about being busy with real life.
*hugs again for good measure*

Good luck and hope you don't disappear. I plan to use you in a future plot of mine, can't exactly play chess if one of the pieces goes missing.

You know you love it Kujo! lol kidding.
I will Zetsu. I should be able to stay on, I just won't be able to get on like mad frequent. I'll have to devote a lot of time to studying the good book and making sure my sermons are done and all the good things that come along with being a Youth Pastor.

Re: We need to talk...
Most definitely. I could see myself being a Youth Pastor the rest of my life. It's what I was called to do, that and music. I play and sing at church on a weekly basis, I'll still do that at the new church I'm going to.

Good luck to you then, and have fun doing what you love.

Good for you, Roxas!
I'd be doing it where I live, if I had the gift for the Word.
...And we had enough kids at my church.

Re: We need to talk...
Heck, I wish I even HAD a church some days. I haven't really gone in years.
The way I grew up, though, preaching wasn't something you chose to do, it was something you were instructed to do.

Re: We need to talk...
Riku, where you live is a missions field. There are lost souls on every street corner, passing by daily. It's our job to go and lead them, we must show them the way to the throne room. In my youth group that I'm leading, there's only about 10 kids, but the Bibile says, "where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am also".
Grizz, I pretty much agree with that. We are all called to go and make disciples.
*hugs Shade* Thanks madam.

Roxas, you don't understand. It's not the general instruction to the Church that's in the Bible. The way I grew up, you didn't CHOOSE to go into preaching. If the Leadership of the Church wanted you to go into "teaching", or "song leading" or anything in the world, they called you into a room and informed you that this is what you were going to be doing.
There was a handwave in the direction of free will in that you had to agree, but anyone who didn't was liable to be blacklisted from the congregation as going against the Will of God because they didn't want to do what they were told to do.
You have Chosen the role of Preacher, in any form. That Choice was not offered where I grew up. I'm glad for you.

Re: We need to talk...
Wow, that seems intense Grizz. What doctrine did you go to? I'm pentecostol, Assemblies of God to be exact.
Re: We need to talk...
wow... I can't even pronounce that...
*hugs Roxas for support in all things*
I wanted to post something that may give you some ideas on things for your new job.
*weird calling something like that a "job" o.O*
Anyhoo... there was this congregation I used to go to many years ago, and they launched a new program in my area that seems to really be taking off ^^ Thought this may give you some encouragement and ideas

Re: We need to talk...
Well, I grew up Mormon and then left completely when I married Hubbybear.
Mormonism's odd for a number of reasons, for one, you don't choose your congregation. Once you join the Church, your congregation is chosen for you based on geographical location. If you live in a certain area then you go to a specific congregation, called Ward or Branch depending on size, that you are assigned to.
You don't choose your leadership, either. They are selected by higher leadership within the framework of the organization.
It's handled in a very Top Down way, much like a corporation of sorts.
There's another peculiarity of growing up Mormon that probably needs to be stated. The language of "ReliefSocietese". The women's group is called the Relief Society. It's common culture to believe that women need to be soft spoken and gentle at all times, so there's a manner of speaking that grew up because of that. It involves saying nice things that, intentionally or unintentionally, mean the complete opposite.
I still have a tendency to phrase even my anger softly.
But yeah, really odd upbringing in some ways and I'm still trying to break all the programming they left me with.
I'm so glad that you're doing what you want with your life *and* getting to spread the Gospel. I'm not one to write "Christian Fiction" so the best I can do is follow Tolkien's example and work it into the philosophical underpinnings so people get it without knowing they're getting it.

*hugs Shade* Thanks for the support, that means a lot. I'm really excited, tomorrow is my first day!!!
Thanks for the info Grizz. I actually didn't know some of that stuff. That seems very very interesting actually. For someone that's been through so much, you're a really nice person.

Thanks for thinking that, Roxas. I tend to emo spiral and I've not been through nearly as much as a few others I might mention, but as I've said before, every single one of us is broken in some way, or we wouldn't be role-players. To have the drive, the need, to envision other people to the extent that we do, to put ourselves in their shoes and see the world through their eyes the way we do, we've gotta be trying to escape something within our own lives.
Normal people, well-adjusted people, don't have that need.
