Sora, the Keyblade Master Empty Sora, the Keyblade Master

Character Template

Name: Sora
Gender: Male
Age: 15 during KH2, so about 16 by now. Same age as Kairi, give or take a few months.
Race: Human
Home World: Destiny Islands

Appearance: Sora is a young man with spiky dark blond hair, verging on true brown, and very bright, brilliant blue eyes. He wears a suit of clothes featuring many straps and buttons and oversized zippers colored predominantly black in his natural form, though there is a bright yellow aspect to his high-top sneakers and touches of red to his pockets and shirt.

He always, though, wears a silver necklace in the shape of a crown.

Personality: In another day and time, Sora would have been described as being a "righteous man", for all that he's not old enough to vote much less drink or enter into binding contracts. In the classical sense, though, Sora has earned his adulthood, no matter how childish he might still be.

He is loyal to his friends to a degree that is stunning to see. He has a sense of justice that would make even Superman blink and wonder if there was something wrong with the kid. He's got a competitive streak that means he cannot resist a challenge of any sort, which can sometimes be a difficult situation to contain as the strength of his drive to compete verges on being a geasa. (And we all know what can happen to those who are geased into accepting any and all challenges.) And he's got a romantic streak the size of the ocean itself. He is naïve and bumbling, socially awkward in some ways though in a manner that is described as being endearing. However, his naivete and his gullibility seems to be influenced by a sharp sense of what his opponent intends. He will fall for any deception by those he trusts, no matter how absurd or badly handled. Those he does not trust, though, cannot deceive him no matter how skilled they are. He very nearly treasures a grudge and yet offers forgiveness as easily as if it were water.

The boy is a mass of contradictions that somehow, miraculously, manage to fit together to make him what others seek to be: a Hero.

He is also starting to show some of the wear and tear of his struggles and experiences since he is composed of parts and pieces of at least five different people, only one of which is the boy he was at the outset of this journey. Though, most of those are formed of some aspect of himself it is somewhat a relief that the Vanitas in his soul is an outside influence, as is the Ventus.

There can be no doubt that Sora loves Kairi, and would literally do anything for her. This love also extends to anyone connected with her and Xion, his own replica, took on many of her features because he loved her so much. He also was willing to sacrifice any part of himself that was necessary for Namine, though she was, technically, not truly Kairi, but Kairi's Nobody. Where those he loves are concerned, there are no boundaries he will not cross, no sacrifices he will not make, no struggles he will not endure. The object of his affection is more important to him than himself.

Which, perhaps, is why he readily forgives Riku for all that his best friend did while struggling to find a way to restore Kairi. Perhaps there is something more to his forgiveness than even Sora can admit to himself. In the silence of his heart there is the smallest whisper of envy, but it is one that Sora does not know how to face. He wants to be Riku, to have had the chance to hold Kairi … and he wishes that he were Kairi, to be held by Riku.

Elemental Mastery:
Primary: Light (to an extent)
Secondary: Ice (had to choose something and I happen to like using Ice)
Tertiary: Darkness (Anti Form)

Weapons: Keyblade Master, is also shown to be proficient with a wide variety of other weapons and weapon types through the series. Because his heart contains not just his, but the hearts of Ventus *and* Xion (replica though she may be) and Vanitas as well, Sora is the only character known to be able to TRIPLE wield Keyblades. The Administration may choose to limit this at their discretion, but he's still capable.

Fighting Style: Sora is a natural weaponsmaster, though he has always been overshadowed physically by Riku (mostly because Riku was OLDER and MORE EXPERIENCED) he naturally gravitates towards a style dependent on sheer brute force, which he is startlingly good at. His standard tactic is to bash something repeatedly with his Keyblade until it surrenders. How this works for him, when he's built much slighter in frame than the faster Riku, is a mystery that not even Kingdom Hearts can solve.

But it works for him. It's straightforward and uncomplicated. He uses magic, but not of the strength that even his Nobody can manage. He uses a wide variety of spells, but he doesn't rely on them to get the job done.

Common understanding says that Sora gained the Forms by drawing on the strength of his friendships. Valor came from Goofy, Wisdom from Donald, Master from King Mickey, Final from Roxas, and Anti from his own Heartless. There is, though, another interpretation.

Sora is splintering within his own mind from the strain of having so many beings so strongly connected to him and they evidence through the Forms. Sora's Valor form harks back to Ventus. His Wisdom form to Xion. Roxas is his Final form and Vanitas his Anti.

Alignment: The very essence of Lawful Good.

Affinities: Sora is a natural at combat, having had to teach himself most, if not all, of what he knows about how to wield weapons against those who would threaten or challenge him. Some of this skill can come from the Keyblade itself, and some of it might be the instinctive influence of the hearts of Ventus and Vanitas which reside within him, but that cannot possibly account for all of his natural skill.

He is known to wield magic separate from the Keyblade, which is astonishing for some, though the Keyblade made his magic stronger. He did, in fact, have to receive training from Merlin regarding Magic and its use, though. Apparently he can't pick up *everything* just through practice and instinct.

Weaknesses: Sora's style is not strong on speed, which is odd considering that he's smaller and supposedly faster than those who *do* rely on it. This means that he's slower than Riku or even the more speed-focused Roxas, his own Nobody (though that status is up for debate given the presence of a second heart, Ventus, within Sora). He is gullible and naïve and highly competitive, which has the potential for getting him into trouble sometimes. His magical prowess is limited, though varied. He simply does not have the strength in magic that is possible for others, though he wields it as part of himself, not solely as part of his Keyblade.

Sora relies on his Keyblade for almost everything relating to battle and is pretty well in a deep hurt without it, though he has started to compensate for that weakness some by developing the ability to use other weaponry at need and to use magic on his own. Still, he is much weaker without the Keyblade and it shows.

History: In the beginning, Sora was not supposed to be the Hero. As an infant his newborn heart healed the injured heart of Ventus from a distance, creating a connection between the two of them, but he was not, then, the Hero of the story. As a child he met Aqua who was going to perform the Rite of Succession for him, but chose not to when she saw that his best friend Riku was chosen by Terra, and she did not wish the battle she felt was upcoming between her and her friend to continue into another generation.

Sadly, the battle carried over in spite of her restraint.

Sometime after Aqua's visit to the islands, Sora felt Ventus fading and reached out to him through the connection forged when he was a newborn. Ventus was hurt, and seeking a place for his Heart to rest and sleep, safe from the traumas of his own struggles and sinister creation. Sora took the wounded Heart into himself, and that, ultimately, changed everything for the young boy.

Sora and Riku were rivals and friends all at once, constantly fighting and testing their strength against each other. When Kairi joined them about a year later, a refugee from some other world, she readily joined their games and their friendship. The three became an inseparable trio.

As they grew older the rivalry for its own sake became something a bit more complicated as they both began to notice the fact that Kairi was a girl. Still, they were friends first, all three of them, and the rivalry never threatened the friendship.

Until the night the Heartless attacked.

Kairi was left an unmoving body that still, somehow, breathed, her heart gone from her. Riku was caught in a web of Darkness and deceit that ultimately led to him and Sora being turned from mere rivals into true enemies. And Sora . . . well, Sora who had never supposed to wield a Keyblade was chosen by one and forced to become something he previously had not been. A Hero.

Using the Keyblade and supported by a larger network of friends and allies than had been his before, Sora was able to set the worlds right and protect the worlds from the power of Darkness, but it came at a cost. In order to seal the final doorway, someone had to be on the other side of it. King Mickey and Riku went into the worlds of Darkness while Sora remained behind to protect Kairi, but even they were separated as Sora refused to give up on Riku and the King, insisting that he would find them again.

The journey cost more than he could have planned because of one unintended consequence of Sora's willing sacrifice of his heart to free Kairi's so that she could be restored. Two Nobodies were also released, Roxas and Namine, and both were quickly snapped up into the plots of the mysterious Organization XIII.

Namine was not Kairi, but she was born from Kairi and that was close enough for Sora who wanted to free her from the Organization, no matter that the cost was his own memories and those of everyone who ever knew him. The Organization wanted to destroy the young Hero, or control him as a puppet.

He proved remarkably resistant to both and ultimately Namine promised to put him back together again, but it would take time.

Time which was complicated by the presence of his Nobody, Roxas, and a Replica made from his memories which were still leaking from him.

Sora knows nothing of the events that took place during his sleep, or even some of the events leading up to his agreement to sleep. Namine has not been able to restore him quite that far, and truly, she probably wouldn't have if she could. Still, ultimately Sora was able to wake, mostly himself again, but the cost of his journey has begun to take its toll on him.

He was forced to battle his way through the remaining Organization members all the way up to the Superior himself and ultimately found both his friends again along the way.

Somehow, against all expectation, the three of them are together again, still friends, but changed by their experiences. Sora still holds to a bright, optimistic viewpoint and hopes for a grand adventure with both his friends at his side, especially since Kairi has begun to wield a Keyblade of her own, but he can feel the Darkness in ways that he couldn't before and every now and again there are whispers in his heart that he knows do not come from himself, or Roxas, or Xion, or even Ventus.

Sora is much more serious than he was in the beginning, and he has seen the damage that Darkness can do to those he cares about. He will continue to for them until his last breath is gone, but he doesn't think that far ahead. Not when there are sunny days still in Destiny Islands and hours he can waste alongside Riku and Kairi.

But if the worlds of Kingdom Hearts need him . . . he is still the Hero and he can still fight.
