Flame Supplement
Name: enFire
Magic Cost: 10
Duration: 5 Post
Requirements: Twin Nodashi Staff
Elemental Alignment: Darkness Flame
Class: Supplement
Description: By sacrificing some of her magic she can give a weapon or armor the attribute of Black Fire. This Fire increases her destructive abilities as well as her physical strength against most enemies. It will give her weapon the traits to use "Black Fire" which is a special magical fire of Darkness. This fire will burn and the flames will continue to burn, without running out of energy, until they are doused. Large quantities, which cannot be enmassed with a weapon or armor with the enFire attribute, require magical Water or Ice in order for them to be quelled. The spell makes a weapon or armor look like it is surrounded by a shadow that is burning like a black flame with blue at the tips. It makes the user warm and lasts a short duration. enFire can be added upon herself or unto someone else’s, though the spell itself cannot be used to hurt to damage anything. Objects under Darkness enFire can withstand most, if not all, flame attacks especially if the target is armor.
History: Another of Aegus' Darkness memorabilia. The Darkness enFire spell was once used with her Twin Nodashi Staff so that she could kill beasts three times her size. She used her flame to burn, tear through flesh, and critically damage her foes. It was one of her favorites and one of her most used spells due to just how long it lasts. Though the enFire spell holds far more significance. This was the very spell that she added to her Summoned Creatures to defeat the Dragon Nosmos the Toxic. It was thanks to enFire that she wasn’t melted down to ash along with her creatures.

Re: Flame Supplement
So basically this is a Darkness-elemental weapon/armor enchantment/buff spell negating a great deal of Fire-elemental and natural fire (?) attacks. . . with a boost to physical strength.
What do you mean, exactly, by saying that "This fire will burn and the flames will continue to born, without running out of energy, until they are doused."? It is presumed that once the duration has elapsed that the flames will fade and no longer be a factor.
And I'd like to see further explanation of the bonus to physical strength on this spell that you mention.

Re: Flame Supplement
Add fire you get more power and more destruction. Simple as that. It's a go or a no go.
And yea. If they ignite something it won't go out by itself. It must be put out. Though yeah, when the magic is gone so would the enFire attribute.

Re: Flame Supplement
Okay, what if the flames the buff has spawned run out of fuel? All fire eventually consumes it's fuel and smothers itself. Particularly since it would, of necessity, be mundane fire once the enchantment has faded. I use a similar device in my Blue Globes spell. The fire spawned is mundane and can be extinguished in the same way that any mundane fire can be. Including burning itself out.
As for the strength buff, I NEED more specifics. How much stronger are her attacks? It's NOT a go or no go situation. There is a TON of difference between, say, a 10% boost and a 50% boost.

Re: Flame Supplement
Not 10 or 50%. More like 5%. It's not Bravery, thus it doesn't have any huge bonus, but it is adding a destructive element and pouring magic into an object that she uses to hit things. This will, on it's own, raise her strength "against most enemies".
No. It doesn't run out of fuel. That is the uniqueness of the Black Flame. It can be douced, by water or by smothering, but alone it will contuine to burn. So, if you were to burn a person they could slap or counter the flames, but if you were to burn a tree it would contuine to burn until the magic is released. The magic is always released after 5 posts. So, for instance, if she were to set fire to everything around her through her haphazard swings and bashes, she could set the area on fire for a short period. Though, the flames go away when enFire goes.

Re: Flame Supplement
Ahhh, okay. So after the five posts then all the subsequent flames extinguish themselves as well.
I think I can live with that.
Unless Roxas sees something glaring that I missed . . .
Approved.

Re: Flame Supplement
*sigh* As much as I hate double posting AFTER I stamped something . . .
Roxas didn't catch it but I did.
What level of magical burning damage are you adding through the use of this Buff/Enchantment Spell? Keep in mind that we tend to describe magical damage in terms of the Tiers of strength for ease of consideration.

Re: Flame Supplement
ummm...Could you give me examples of the Tier levels? What would be Level 1 Fire Damage and what would be Level 5 Fire Damage?
It is a unique flame in that it eats away at whatever organic material it touches. It's almost like an acid, but it works slower and via the flames. Thus, if something isn't doused, the Darkness Flame devours it completely. Not even ash is left. Everything is ate away into the flames. So, it would be quicker than normal fire and more devastating, but it isn't so quick to the point one couldn’t heal or fix themselves. Though the flames couldn't be healed with Heal, but they could be with Water or Dispel, the damage could. Think of it almost like a living flame and when it burns it acts almost like Necrosis by devouring and disintegrating everything.

Re: Flame Supplement
Fire is Tier 1. Fira is Tier 2. Firaga is Tier 3.
There is no Tier 4 or higher in terms of available magical damage, so far as I am aware.
And just so you know, I'm gonna ix-nay on the Necrosis effect with damage. Getting players to actually take that into account in RP is going to be like pulling hen's teeth, so no matter how much logical sense it makes, I'm not going to let it fly.
Not because you can't do that but because no one else will abide by it. It sucks, but that's the way things work.
You can have a flame that won't be put out without magic, but trust me when I say that you are NOT going to get people in RP to play out the potential damage as anything other than "okay, blah many points off the top, poison effect, I'm good. I keel you now".
I have tried making acid spells in the past and gotten heck for actually thinking in terms of potential scars. I have dealt with Necrosis related to Death-Elemental spells and we finally had to nerf the whole Element to simply an Energy type and nothing that even remotely resembles "Death" as it should be.
So yeah, what kind of Damage level are you talking?

Re: Flame Supplement
There are -Ja spells in FFXIII
Not only that, the flame can be put out by just about any means, though it won't go out on it's own.
Ok. Gotcha on the people not abiding by it. Though, whenever I rp people usually do account for their injuries and contuine to play them through. They don't just forget about them. Though, I guess it's just that forum?
As for damage it would be Tier 1 with normal fire and Tier 2 with Darkness Fire, but because the Darkness Fire has lost some of it's effectiveness I would say 1.5 leaning more towards Tier 1. It doesn't have much scatter damage unless there is direct contact, where as Tier 2-3 have a larger radius of damage. It doesn't have amazingly destructive effects either, strenght is only raised so much and, in the end, it can be put out and countered by other magic. So I'd say, overall, Tier 1.

Re: Flame Supplement
Alright, so Tier 1 Magic damage will give you the room you need to allow for the pseudo-Poison effect of the fire along with the resistance to anything except magic.
I can justify it for the cost at that point.
I'm looking at the totals, though, and I'm increasingly uncomfortable with a 5 post duration. Those are going to be your posts, right? Or anyone's posts? Durations are usually in terms of your posts or the target's posts and cooldowns are usually in terms of everyone's posts. It's odd, but it does make a difference.

Re: Flame Supplement
My posts. enFire keeps the flame upon the weapon for 5 of my posts.
But then again it all depends on the time. If a large period of time passes than it will disappear long before that. Like I did with Aeroga, which wore off after two posts. It went out after 2 posts because a long period of time passed between them.
