Baby, the Firebird

Age: Hatchling, but will mature quickly

Gender: Female

Breed: Lightborn Firebird

Appearance: Somewhere between a Phoenix and a common raptoral bird, leaning towards the Phoenix appearance. It's the burning feathers that give it away. Especially when the feathers are white and burn blue fire. The bird has glowing blue eyes that are solid in color. At the moment Baby is about a hand sized puffball of white fuzz with glowing golden beak and claws. She will mature quickly, gaining feathers on her wings first and then going through a rather scraggly phase as the baby down is replaced by body feathers before she gains her adolescent plumage and then her adult plumage.

Purpose: One part companion, one part messenger. Baby is highly intelligent, can fly even as a puffball hatchling, and can find anyone she knows. As a hatchling she has a fairly limited understanding, like all infants, but as she matures that will change possibly leading to a form of telepathic speech.

History: Baby's origins are rather mysterious. The chick simply appeared one day beside Kairi, looking to burrow into her hair like she would under a mother's wing. Kairi immediately christened the hatchling "Baby" and proceeded to hide her new pet from her parents, who she is certain will not approve. But Baby is just too precious to Kairi already and has shown exceptional intelligence beyond even normal avians as well as the ability to float even as a featherless hatchling.
